Some of my happiest childhood memories are connected to food.
Growing up, I spent a lot of time in Uttarakhand, where my grandparents prepared food the traditional way. Fresh amla juice, homemade pickles, herbal recipes, and ingredients sourced directly from local farms were a normal part of life. Back then, I never realized how special that was. It was simply the taste of home.
As I grew older and moved to Delhi for my studies, things changed. Life became faster, schedules became busier, and most of the food available around me was heavily processed. I began to miss the authentic taste of the products I had grown up with. More importantly, I missed the trust that came with knowing exactly where my food came from and how it was made.
Then came the COVID-19 pandemic.
Like millions of others, I spent much more time at home with my family. During that period, I rediscovered many of the traditional foods and remedies that had been a part of my childhood. The same recipes, ingredients, and practices that had been passed down through generations suddenly felt more relevant than ever.
That was when my father and I began discussing a simple question:
Why should authentic Himalayan products remain limited to only a few households when so many people are looking for natural and trustworthy alternatives?
What started as conversations around our dining table soon turned into a vision. We wanted to bring the purity of the hills, the wisdom of traditional recipes, and the quality of locally sourced ingredients to families across India.
Three years ago, with this idea in mind, Kumaon Herbal was born.
Our mission was never just to sell products. We wanted to preserve traditions, support local farmers, create employment opportunities in rural communities, and make natural wellness accessible to more people.
Today, every bottle of juice, every pickle, and every product we create carries a part of that journey. It represents the flavors of my childhood, the values passed down by my grandparents, and the dream that my father and I started building together.
Kumaon Herbal is more than a business for us.
It is our way of bringing a little piece of the Himalayas to every home.
